PROJECT BRIEF

Our designs use this spacial concept of circles intersected by diagonals to house a unique system of tracking LED screens allowing each studio to reconfigure to create a variety of storytelling and production areas.

Subtle references to the neoclassic Washington DC architecture are blended into a contemporary 21st-century aesthetic capturing a timeless style, enabling NBC4 and Telemundo 44 to grow into the future. The multiple LED screens are vehicles to both enhance the daily news reporting but also serve as a window Into the different neighborhoods that, woven together, create the diverse Washington DC metropolitan area colloquially known as the DMV.

Each studio, while incorporating different floor plans, complements the other by sharing architectural elements and curved shapes. While NBC4 is more circular and in some ways more traditional, Telemundo 44 is more elliptical and asymmetrical. Each studio is a neutral pallet but able to change look and feel through recessed LED Lighting and multiple tracking high resolution LED screens. The circular floor patterns intersect with rectangular elements creating natural anchors for virtual and augmented storytelling effects.
